Scanners

Fri Jun 5, 2009, 1:59 PM
I'm in the market for a new scanner since the one I have now is like 9 years old and the scan quality has really gone downhill. :C I hate to say bye bye to my trusty Epson but the time has come...

Do you guys have any suggestions for a good scanner? I need one that will do colors justice since I tend to work with traditional media rather than CG.
I just don't really know where to start and the reviews that I have read online for scanners have been kind of unhelpful. XD;

Hmmm...I've only ever used HP Pavilion Scanners for tradional media, and the colours always came out pretty good, but I'm sure someone could suggest something better. :)

I would give you mine which it's pretty good but it's still in ohio...

I use a CanonScan N670U, which works pretty well. It's a bit old, though, so I'm not sure if it's still available.

I have a Mustek ScanExpress A3 1200 pro, which is a HUGE badboy. It scans up to 11 X 17 and it seems to work pretty well for me.

KIYAAAAAAAAAH!!! Boot to the head!

MRIs may say we use all our brain, but Einstein wasn't wrong in saying we only use 10%. He just mean't mentally. No wonder even smart people can be dumb. XP

I have an HP but it isn't accurate w/colors. At work, we have an Epson and it rocks! Pretty damn accurate. Maybe just a newer version of the same brand?

I quite like my Canon LiDE60 -- that particular one isn't around anymore, but the Canon LiDE-series scanners can still be found. The 600F seems to be on the top end, but honestly at this point all scanners tend to produce really good results.

Here's a scan of a lovely image Jen Seng did for me, at 600dpi (beware it's massive) :

The scanner is optically capable of twice that.
